The commission has also held two roundtable discussions with affected youth in Waterbury and Stamford, and will have more. The commission’s goal is to publish, by October, a multi-year strategy for getting 60,000 young people back on track.
Amanda Olberg from Dalio Education said the Greenwich philanthropy will match donations the Stamford Parks Community Partnership receives dollar for dollar up to $100,000. She said Dalio Education wanted to support the Youth Service Corps as part of its “commitment to young people who are at risk or disconnected from school and work.”
The stabilization bill includes $175,000 each for both Hartford and New Haven as part of a pilot program to give public students free rides on DOT-operated buses. Lawmakers said it’s part of a broader effort to help disconnected youth. A report from the Dalio Education Foundation estimated 119,000 youth became disconnected from work or school.
